We have just started learning about poetry and rhyming couplets and have been writing group poems!
Each student wrote two rhyming couplets on a theme of their choice then emailed this to another student who added another two rhyming sentences before emailling it all on to another student and so on!
What will our poetry end up like?
Games
Games are cool but sometimes bad,
but I play good games with my dad
I play with my dad it’s lots of fun,
When we play we use toy guns.
Games,
Games are very bad
and it make me very sad
Camp
I am very excited for camp
But I hope the rooms aren’t too cramped
I hope I don’t lose my way
On the first day
Beach
The beach is very sandy,
I’ll bring sandals, that’ll be handy!
The sun is very hot,
I really like it a lot.

I look at the sky
And see a bird fly
The First Settlers
The aboriginals were happy they were having fun,
Then the first settlers came along, you should see what they had done.
Those settlers had been mean and cruel,
Because they weren’t thought of as cool,
Candy
Candy is sweet
Way better than meat
I eat candy all day,
It is so good I eat it everyday!
When I play a beat
I can hear the sweet treat
Soccer
When I play I try to scissor the ball.
Some times I fail and fall on the floor.
But I sometimes I end being a stall,
But I mange to stroll past the goal.
Winter
The snowflakes drifted gently onto the ground,
Making a little twinkly sound,
Dance
Dance dance dance to the beat,
Move your body and move your feet
Wave your hands
Then after drink some cans

I just love playing in the snow,
Especially with my friend Joe
We like to play snowball fights
My dad stands around to watch the amazing sights

I play on my iPad I play a lot,
I play so much my mum wants me to stop.
Video games
Video games are the best,
So we can beat the rest,
The remote control vibrating in my hand,
While I sit there acting like I own the land,
Fish
Fish are extremely cool,
they live in the ocean not in a pool.

The fish was blowing bubbles
And here comes the man with the big googles
I put the fish in a bowl,
And then I gobble it whole!
Children
Monica is such a naughty child,
She throws plates and knifes and runs wild.
She must be a real fuss to handle
She even took my sandal
I agree she is a pest
She started pulling hairs off my chest
Beach
The sand is hot,the sun is hot
I think pretty sure the pot is hot
Topic – Having Fun
Having fun can be done in over a billion different ways
Something I find fun is lying down in the sun for days and days
I quite like going to the beach
Most of the time I would eat a peach
My Self
Most of the time I’m really sad,
Mainly cause I’m really bad,
I wish I could improve,
Oh I hope it will be soon,
I like football soccer and tennis,
But people think I am a menace.
I play on my Xbox for too long,
When I play I play King Kong.

I love to play the piano
Even though it’s a real fiasco
When I touch the black and white keys
I hear the swaying of the trees

Art is fun art is messy but I do not like, when it is messy .
It is cool it is fun but I do not like it because it is not fun.
Cats
I like to play with my cats,
Even though sometimes I want to hit them with bats,

Fun existing playful school
But what happens to school when it’s not cool.
Food Poem,
I love food it is cool some can fit in a stool,
It can be found everywhere it makes me drool like a fool.
Sometimes food taste bad
When I eat it I vomit in a bag.
The food tastes disgusting, I wished I never put it in my mouth,
I shook my head and threw the vomit bag to the South.

I went to the beach I saw a duck
It scrapped my knee and I gave it a pluck.

I’m scared and worried about going to camp,
When I go to sleep the teachers will turn out the lamp.

The birds has hatched, One had a patch,
It tried to fly, I said “good try,”
Another bird took off and flew

Dark Presence
I’m a dark presence, starring at you from the park,
Ya better watch out Clark, I’ve already got your friend Mark.
So you better watch out,
And you better not pout
Where there is dark presence, I am there to,
Where I am bad things will happen, you know it’s true,

Fruits are colourful, Fruits are sweet

Sitting by the pool is the best way,
Especially when the sun is out on a great day.

I like to learn my culture
My culture has beautiful nature
There is not a thing I need to learn
But the teacher insist I go further
HATS
I have hats so big and tall
But don’t worry I have some small
I wear a hat everyday,
I wonder what my mum would say.

I make a meal for my friends and I make it delicious,
Trying to keep it nice and create wonderful dishes.

The man was playing golf and got a putt
But the man fell and got a cut
